With the XentauriX Application Server complex streaming media systems can be operated. All components belonging to the application, like encoders, streaming servers and storage systems can be centrally remote controlled and parameterized from a distance. In addition the XentauriX Application Server enables the integration of the CVOD (Continuous Video on Demand) technology, developed by artec technologies for the simultaneously recording and time-displaced playback of life streams.

Trendsetting Technology XentauriX Streaming Media Platform The browser based control - and administration platform of the XentauriX Application Server enables a central remote control and configuration as well as an error-analysis of all streaming media system components by using any Internet-access. At the same time the Server ensures a high failure prevention for every single component. In case of need automatic backup systems can be activated to ensure a smooth running operation. In addition the XentauriX Application Server controls all system components and automatically sends e-mails or SMS's in case of a disturbance or video-loss.

The integrated database already contains a system-administration and an user-administration module and therefore enables the integration of foreign-systems or "Billing-Modules" for pay per view applications. Artec technologies AG offers a complete streaming media product family like, SINGLESTREAMER, MULTISTREAMER, PORTABLE PRODUCER, CYBER MEDIA-SERVER, and STORAGESERVER, which all perfectly match and can be centrally administered by the XentauriX Application Server.

Every streaming media product can be centrally remote administered and configured by the XentauriX Application Server. The operating state of every component within the system is shown in a clearly arranged display. Thus parameters of the encoder for example can be changed within seconds by using the remote control.

CVOD Technology: The Fusion of Live-Content with VOD
As an option the Application Server can remotely record and administer media streams including scripting on the STORAGESERVER. The encoders can be positioned at geographically different places. The XentauriX Application Server functions as an interface between the User, the streaming Server and the storage system. Any Live broadcast can be directly addressed and archived. Users can view recorded content from any position within the video-data in a time-displaced mode, even during the recording of live broadcast. The System is based on the Windows Media MPEG 4 technology and it is future orientated CODEC neutral. Using corresponding "Plug In's" streaming formats like Real Networks, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP-3 or H.263 can also be used.

With the Highlight Editor playback jump-tags can be placed, which the user can directly skip to by mouseclick. Highlights of an event, like the beginning of a news broadcast, Highlights of concerts and presentations can be recalled precise to the second. Highlights can also be provided with descriptions, or information from foreign systems. Combined with special software(EPG, Virage Video Logger/Cobion etc.) highlights can be generated and placed automatically. CVOD is especially suitable for Live Event Applications like WEB-TV, concerts, entertainment and video surveillance.

Hardware/Design The XentauriX Application Server is placed in a compact 1 HE 19" Rack and it is equipped with a RAID hard drive system. The Server contains the browser based control and administration software, a SQL database and a mail server. System parameters like IP-addresses or CPU-temperatures can be checked directly via its display.
