The
XBL Broadcast Logger System was developed to digitally record and playback
a multitude of Television channels over a long period of time in a high
image and audio quality. The permanent storage can take place for the
period of months. The XBL System consists of a Masterunit and one or
several Subunits. The XBL Masterunit controls and administers the whole
System including all XBL Subunits. The Subunits are dual channel digitally
video recorders with a standard capacity of 480 Gbyte. The Subunits can be
cascaded at will.
The XBL Broadcast Logger System can substitute traditional VCRs.
The archived material can be accessed via the Local Network using the
standard Browser. A multitude of users can simultaneously inquire the
System via Intranet or Internet.
XBL
Masterunit The XBL Masterunit operates, controls and administers
the general system and enables the playback via Network for several users
simultaneously. The XBL Masterunit consists of a central database,
log-file, application software, as well as a Mail - Messenger. In case of
a system failure or video loss, text messages will be generated
automatically and sent via e-mail or SMS and they will be visualised in
the administers browser view. The management menu can be used to change
parameters and view the clearly arranged status information from a
distance, individually for all systems. Archive material can be copied to
an analog recorder using an integrated video output.
XBL
Subunit Each XBL Subunit has 2 independent recording channels with
each 3 video inputs (Composite, S-VHS, MXC) and 2 stereo audio inputs. The
Subunits are equipped with a RAID 5 based SCSI hard drive system using hot
swap capable hard drives. The Subunits can be delivered, depending on the
configuration, with a Storage capacity of up to 720 Gbyte. The used
recording - and playback format is the Windows Media MPEG 4. Each XBL
Subunit has its own database and can operate even in the case of a network
breakdown self-sufficient. Beyond this the Subunits offer special safety
features like a video loss detector, a crash recovery, and an Event -
Messenger. The Ring storage can be adjusted for each channel individually
for a period of 1 to XXX days.
Recording/Storage The
RAID based recording of the TV content is saved in a ring storage. The
duration of the ring storage can be adjusted individually for each
channel. The recording can take place permanent or timer operated. For
each channel the video - bandwidth (56k-1 Mbps) and the audio -
bandwidth(10-44 kHz/channel) can be adjusted individually. The playback
takes place precise to the second.
Using the Highlight Editor,
Highlights can be added to the TV content manually or automatically.

Guide The recognition software like VIRAGE Video Logger/COBION can
be combined with the XBL System. Highlights are generated automatically
using face, audio or text-recognition. Using the optional EPG(Electronic
